People need hard problems

I like where I work. There are an ocean of interesting problems to solve. If I'm feeling uninspired, I can turn my attention to another corner of the company to find some uniquely challenging problem. Sure, it's not always glamorous or innovative work, but I can reframe it to be a growth opportunity for myself.

A bodybuilder with small weights or a chess grandmaster without a worthy opponent. They wither, shrink, and are quickly bored. Humans are notorious for making up new problems in order to keep ourselves from facing eternal contentedness. We crave a challenge and expanding our comfort zone. That is where we feel aliveness.

Feeling frustrated at a difficult problem is natural. But, in the frustration and challenge, I remember there is growth and that learnings lie in the friction.
